Get ready for a visit
Talk through what you want to ask. Keep track of changes you want to share with your care team.
Hygia for patients and caregivers
Meet Gia, your AI health companion. Gia can help you understand your care team’s instructions, keep track of next steps, and prepare for your next visit.
Gia is available only by invitation from your healthcare organization.
Everyday help
You may think of a question after a visit. You may forget an instruction or need help with a next step. Depending on the services your healthcare organization offers, Gia can help you:
Talk through what you want to ask. Keep track of changes you want to share with your care team.
Go over the instructions your care team has shared. Make a list of anything you still need to ask them.
Get reminders and talk about problems with taking your medicines. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before changing a medicine or dose.
Keep track of visits, referrals, and other tasks. Tell Gia if something makes a task hard, such as finding a ride or knowing whom to call.
Talk about a question, a concern, or something that has changed. Gia can help you put it into words to share with your care team.
Meet Gia
You do not need to know medical terms or have a perfect question. Just start talking.
Gia can remember details from past conversations and follow up on what you shared. If you talked about trouble booking a visit, you can pick up that topic the next time.
Gia uses artificial intelligence, or AI. She is not a person or a healthcare professional. She can make mistakes. Check with your care team if you are unsure about an answer.

Your healthcare organization must invite you to use Gia. Your invitation will explain how to access the service.
You may use Gia through an app on your smartphone or tablet, or your healthcare organization may provide you with a tablet.
Once you have access, you can talk with Gia about questions and next steps. The help Gia offers depends on the services your organization has set up for you.
Staying connected
Gia helps you follow your care team’s guidance between visits. Your doctor and other healthcare professionals still make decisions about your care.
If you share a concern, Gia may suggest that you call your care team. Your organization may also arrange for information from your chats to reach a team member for follow-up.
No one is reviewing every conversation you have with Gia. Telling Gia about a problem does not mean your care team will see it right away. Contact your care team directly when you need medical help. In an emergency, call 911.

For families and caregivers
Caring for someone can mean keeping track of visits, instructions, and questions. Gia can help the person you care for with these daily tasks.
Want to be involved? Ask their healthcare organization how you can help and what permission is needed. Family members do not get access to someone’s information just because they are related.
Gia uses what you share, along with information your healthcare organization provides, to make your talks more useful to you.
You can learn more about how Hygia collects, uses, and protects personal information in our Privacy Policy.
Read our Privacy Policy →No. Your healthcare organization must offer Gia and invite you to use it. You cannot sign up on this website. Ask your organization whether Gia is available to you.
Follow the steps in your invitation. If you need help, use the contact details that came with it or contact the organization that invited you.
Not always. You may use the Gia app on your smartphone or tablet, or your healthcare organization may provide a tablet. Your invitation will explain which option you will use.
Gia can help you review your care team’s instructions and prepare questions. She does not diagnose health problems or prescribe treatment. Ask your doctor or other healthcare professional for medical advice.
This depends on the services your healthcare organization has set up and the permissions in place. Ask your organization who can access your information, what is shared with your care team, and what a caregiver may see.
Contact your care team when you need medical help, have a question about your treatment, or are unsure about something Gia says. Do not wait for a reply through Gia. In an emergency, call 911.
If you would like to use Gia, ask your healthcare organization whether it offers the service. If you have already been invited, follow the steps in your invitation.
Gia is available only to patients invited by a participating healthcare organization.
